Romantic Getaways on a Shoe String
Many hotels might offer "honeymoon packages" or a "romantic getaway" package but, believe it or not, it's usually best to skip these programs because aside from a complimentary bottle of champagne (which you can pick up on the way to your destination) and perhaps a meal or two at a restaurant of their choosing, they don't offer much else. In truth, all they really offer is a higher rate.
But perhaps you don't have money for a hotel. There are several other options you have for romantic getaways. Consider having the kids spend the night at a friend's or family member's house while you and your spouse spend the day together — a trip to the zoo, a museum, an art gallery, etc. If you have no money at all consider a trip to a local community park and take a ride on the swing set. Yes, it might sound ridiculous but one of the tips to feeling romantic is feeling young. So take some time away from being the "grown-up" and plan a romantic getaway right in your backyard.
